We camped here on the Cache La Poudre, one of my favorite rivers anywhere, for two nights. Lots of stars the first night, full moon the second. Also, the campground host looked exactly like Santa, and he had a Mrs. Claus, and they drove around in a golf cart together—I was not fast enough with the camera.
The Poudre is rich with trout and crawdads. We went swimming, or tried to, for a few minutes—it’s really cold, even in August. Lots of snowmelt from the Rockies.
It’s always tempting to pan for gold, despite a lack of pan.
