Friday evening

It’s quiet and chilly in Golden, and tomorrow our old friends are coming over for tea. In other good news, I just found out I’m going to be in a really cool anthology called “Modern Grimmoire.”  My friend, Sarah Schantz, is also a finalist, and she alerted me to the results.  I honestly forgot they were being announced today; my better half and I have been sick and busy this week. And, early this morning, my giant Buddha painting was successfully delivered (via roof rack) to a very sweet lady who is already giving him a loving home.  Good day.

In the summer of 2010, I worked on this painting every day for 3 weeks. I found the giant “canvas” in my landlord’s basement; it had a painfully ugly print of “ships passing in the night” and he gave me permission to paint over it. Also I antiqued the frame with gold leaf, think it took three full packages of gold leaf to cover the whole thing.
