glass graveyard

is located just up the hill from where we’ve been staying in northern New Mexico this past week. Here are some photos and thoughts on the junk heaps:

Glass and metallic powder. Rusting cans, fishing reels, car husks, bed springs: that’s just one look.  There are blue, green, opalescent, yellow, and red glass shards, and bottles that say Fanta, Pepsi, Coke, Coca-cola, Dr. Pepper, Nehi, Coors, Milk of Magnesium.  A nurse’s shoe and a broken elk leg bone. It’s all only up and over the hill, a long broken up, grown over road from the 40’s.  On the other side of the property, there’s an abandoned movie theater.
